AI Consultancy Manchester
AI Applied is a UK software studio working with organisations across Greater Manchester. We are not a Manchester-headquartered firm and we are not going to pretend otherwise: our registered office is in Glasgow. What we do offer Manchester clients is regular on-site time, a straight train from the north, and the thing that actually matters, which is people who build production systems rather than sell workshops.
Why Manchester organisations come to us
Manchester has an unusually broad economy for a UK city outside London: a large professional and legal services cluster around Spinningfields, a substantial media and creative sector at MediaCity, one of the country largest concentrations of higher education and health research, a serious logistics and manufacturing base across the wider North West, and a fast-growing technology scene around the Northern Quarter and Ancoats.
That mix produces a particular kind of AI problem. The organisations are large enough to have real data and real regulatory exposure, but rarely large enough to carry a standing team of machine learning engineers. They need delivery capacity that turns up, ships something that works, documents it, and hands it over. That is precisely the gap we fill.
What we typically build for North West clients
- Professional services. Document and precedent search across matter files, contract review support, and drafting assistance with citations back to source, all with strict access control by client and matter.
- Health and life sciences. Structured extraction from clinical and research documents, operational forecasting for capacity planning, and the governance wrapper that makes any of it defensible.
- Manufacturing and logistics. Demand forecasting, quality classification from images or sensor data, and automated reconciliation between planning, warehouse and finance systems.
- Media and creative. Asset tagging and search across large media libraries, transcript-driven workflows, and rights-aware content pipelines.
- Higher education. Enquiry handling, document processing for admissions and compliance, and research data engineering.
How we work with Manchester clients
Discovery and playback sessions run on site. Delivery runs remotely with a fixed weekly rhythm and a shared board you can look at any time. We come back on site for the sessions that genuinely benefit from a room: process mapping, stakeholder workshops, and go-live. In practice most clients see us in person every two to three weeks during an active build.
We are candid about the trade-off. If you need someone in your office five days a week, a Manchester-based agency will serve you better and we will happily say so. If you need people who have shipped this kind of system before and will not disappear after the discovery phase, that is the case for working with us.
Services available to Manchester organisations
Everything we do is available to North West clients on the same terms as anywhere else in the UK: AI readiness assessment, AI implementation, machine learning development, data engineering, AI automation and AI governance and compliance.
Pricing and commitment
Fixed-fee discovery with a fixed deliverable. Milestone-based build pricing with an agreed definition of done. Monthly increments for longer programmes that you can stop at the end of any month. Source code and deployment configuration are yours. Travel to Manchester is included in our rates rather than billed as an extra.
