AI Implementation Services

Most organisations do not have an AI idea problem. They have an implementation problem. The workshop went well, the proof of concept impressed everyone in the room, and then nothing shipped. AI Applied exists to close that gap: we take AI from slide deck to production system that real people use every day.

What AI implementation actually involves

Implementation is the unglamorous 80 percent that sits between a promising model and a working service. It covers data access and permissions, integration with the systems your teams already use, evaluation and guardrails, monitoring, cost control, rollback plans, and the change management that decides whether anyone adopts the thing you built.

We run implementation as a software engineering discipline rather than an experiment. That means version control, environments, automated testing, code review, and a deployment pipeline. AI components are treated as one part of a wider system, with the same operational expectations as everything else in your estate.

Our delivery approach

1. Scope and feasibility

We start with a short, paid discovery that establishes what the system must do, what data it can legitimately touch, which constraints are non-negotiable, and what “good” looks like in numbers. If the honest answer is that AI is the wrong tool, we say so at this stage rather than after you have spent six figures.

2. Working prototype

Within the first few weeks you get something you can click, not a document about something you might click. The prototype runs against real or realistically shaped data so the failure modes surface early. We build an evaluation set at the same time, so improvements can be measured rather than felt.

3. Production hardening

This is where most projects die. We add authentication, authorisation, audit logging, rate limiting, cost ceilings, input validation, output guardrails, human-in-the-loop review paths, and graceful degradation for when a model or an API is unavailable. We also document the failure modes so your support team is not guessing.

4. Integration and rollout

The system connects to your existing stack, whether that is Microsoft 365, Salesforce, a data warehouse, a line-of-business application, or an internal API. Rollout is staged: a pilot group, then measured expansion, with the evaluation harness running continuously so regressions are caught before users find them.

5. Handover or ongoing support

You choose. We can hand over the codebase with documentation and a knowledge transfer programme so your team owns it outright, or we can stay on for managed support, monitoring and iteration. We do not build dependency into contracts.

Typical implementation projects

How we price implementation

Discovery is a fixed fee with a fixed deliverable. Build phases are quoted per milestone with an agreed definition of done, so you are never funding open-ended effort. For longer programmes we work in monthly increments that you can stop at the end of any month. Everything we build is yours, including the source code and the deployment configuration.

What makes an implementation succeed

In our experience the projects that ship share four traits: a named business owner who cares about the outcome, a genuinely accessible data source, a narrow first use case, and a willingness to measure. The projects that stall usually have an enthusiastic sponsor, a vague brief, and a data set that turns out to require six months of governance work nobody scheduled.

We front-load that risk deliberately. Our discovery output tells you which of those four traits you have and what it will take to acquire the missing ones. It is a cheaper way to find out than a failed build.

Governance is part of implementation, not an afterthought

Any system that touches personal data, makes or informs decisions about people, or produces text that goes to customers needs a governance wrapper. We build the audit trail, retention policy, human review points and documentation as part of the delivery, not as a retrofit. If you need the wider picture, see our AI governance and compliance service.

Work with us

We are a UK software studio delivering AI implementation for organisations across the country, with regular on-site time for London-based clients. If you have an idea that has been stuck at proof-of-concept stage, or a process that everyone agrees is broken, a short conversation will usually tell us both whether we can help.

Book an introductory chat or get in touch with the details of what you are trying to build.
